Dublin Port is a state-owned, fully self-financing commercial entity and the largest freight and passenger port in Ireland with all cargo handling activities carried out by private sector companies operating in intensely competitive markets within the port.
Up to €165 billion of trade flows through Dublin Port each year and the location handles 80% of all containerised freight that comes into the Republic of Ireland. Over 1.6m passengers passed through Dublin Port in 2024, making it Ireland’s largest ferry port as well, connecting Ireland to the UK and France with regular sailings.
As the Hardworking Heart of Dublin, the Port is at the hub of the national road and rail network making it a key strategic access point for Ireland, and particularly the Dublin area. The Company employs over 150 staff directly, with over 4000 people working on the Port estate every day.
Dublin Port also offers community amenities such as the Great South Wall, Tolka Estuary Greenway, and event spaces such as the Substation and The Pumphouse. Our sponsorship programme supports many sporting and community groups from the Dockland’s area, including the Dublin Port scholarship programme for third level students.
